Somerset County haz-mat on scene of Route 206 truck accident

Update: A 17-year-old township teen was ticketed in the accident.

HILLSBOROUGH - The Somerset County Hazardous Materials Response Team is on the scene of an overturned truck off southbound Route 206 at Raider Boulevard on Monday morning.

The truck, carrying pesticides, flipped on its side just after 7:45 a.m. as it made a right turn from Route 206, according to those at the scene. There were minor delays in both directions of Route 206, while Raider Boulevard was closed from Route 206 to Homestead Road, police said. Raider Boulevard reopened at 10:45 a.m.

There were no reports of injuries. More information will be reported as it becomes available.

This is the second time in a week the haz-mat team has responded to a truck accident.

Residents in the Finderne section of Bridgewater Township were asked to shelter in place on Wednesday after a tractor-trailer hauling N-Aminoethylpiperzine, a corrosive liquid, flipped onto its side at the intersection of Union and Finderne avenues. The intersection was closed into early Thursday morning as a number of haz-mat teams from Central Jersey worked to clean up the scene.
