Man dies in single car crash Tuesday morning

A man was killed in a car accident off of W.S. Young Drive Tuesday morning, according to Killeen Police Department spokeswoman Ofelia Miramontez.

The man, who was the only person in the car, was driving his blue Pontiac on Little Nolan Road at "a high rate of speed" around 7 a.m. when he hit a dip in the road and lost control of the car. A preliminary investigation found that when he tried to correct the car, he crashed into the Texas Army National Guard Building.

The driver was not wearing a seat belt, and was ejected from the car, according to Miramontez. Police are withholding the man's name until his family is notified.

Police received the call at 7:17 a.m. The man was pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke at 7:25 a.m.
