Maryland is re-evaluating how to evaluate school systems

BALTIMORE (WBFF) - The Maryland State Board of Education is fine-tuning plans on how it will evaluate school systems in the future.

The new evaluation will not only be based on academics, but on other factors as well.

Board member Dr. Karen Salmon said: "We have to make sure we are collecting data that is clean and collected in the same way."

A master plan will be approved in late August and then forwarded to the National Education Department for approval.

Other factors that will carry weight in the evaluation process include a school's attendance records and evaluations from parent surveys.
