Man charged in connection with Tornillo boy's death

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) - Investigators with the El Paso County Sheriff's Office have charged 36-year-old Adrian Garcia in connection to investigation of an accidental shooting involving a 10-year-old boy in Tornillo late last month.

According to EPCSO, deputies were dispatched to reports of an accidental shooting in the 19000 block of Highland St. in Tornillo around 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28. The child was taken from the scene to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Sheriff's Office Criminal investigations Major Crimes Unit and Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene to take over the investigation. On Monday, Oct, 9, EPCSO obtained a warrant charging Garcia with Criminal Negligent Homicide in connection with their investigation.

Officials have not yet released the boy's name or revealed the relationship between Garcia and the child.

Garcia was booked into the El Paso County Detention Center where he's being held on a $200,000 bond.
