Allegiant adds two routes

Allegiant will begin flying between Louisville, Ky., and Las Vegas and between Columbus and Austin, Texas, in the coming months.

The twice-weekly Louisville-Las Vegas route begins Nov. 16. The route will be Allegiant's eighth out of Louisville, which it only began serving in the late spring. The Derby City will be Allegiant's 58th destination from its hometown of Las Vegas.

Allegiant will compete with twice-daily Southwest service on the service, according to the website Flight Connections.

The carrier's Columbus-Austin flight launches on Feb. 16 and will also depart twice weekly. It will be Allegiant's tenth route from the Ohio capital and eleventh route from the Texas capital. Allegiant is the only airline with scheduled flights from Columbus' Rickenbacker airport, which is 10 miles south of downtown.

No airline services Austin non-stop from Columbus' much larger John Glenn airport.
